Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Please find below the answers to the common questions about our place. If your question is not answered, please feel free to contact us.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: Please see our policies page for the answers to this and other related questions.

Q: How close are you to Zion National Park?

A: The park is right behind our house, just a few hundred yards away.
The entrance to the park is 5 miles from us, or about 10 minutes of driving time.

Q: Can guests access the Internet from your house?

A: Yes, our guests can enjoy a free Wi-Fi access to the Internet. To connect to the Internet, bring your Wi-Fi capable laptop or tablet with you. If you are not sure whether your device can connect to the Internet wirelessly, you can try to do that at your nearest Starbucks or Borders store: many of them (although not all) offer Wi-Fi access to the Internet from within the store. If you can connect to the Internet there, chances are you will be able to connect to the Internet from our location, as well.

Q: Will my mobile phone work at your location?

A: It depends on the network you belong to: some networks (such as T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, or Tracfone) work here well, while others have no reception. Please contact your wireless phone service provider to determine whether they service our area.

Q: How large is Rockville, Utah?

A: Rockville is a quiet little town right next to Springdale. It is a bedroom community of about 250 residents, and unlike Springdale, there is no commercial activity here. If you want to stay in a true country-style town, away from commercial noise and crowd, Rockville is the perfect choice.

Q: Where is the closest restaurant?

A: There are no restaurants in Rockville (no commercial activity is allowed here), but if you drive about 2 miles east on the Road 9, towards Springdale and Zion Park entrance, you will find a great variety of restaurants: traditional American, Mexican, Chinese, pizzeria, night bars, and so on.

Q: How close are you to the highway?

A: Our “highway” is not what suburban residents might expect: it’s just a two-lane paved road, which is actually the only road of Rockville. Most houses of Rockville are close to it, including ours. Trucks are not allowed to go through Zion Park tunnel, so they don’t use our road. There is some traffic during the day, as the Zion Park visitors use the road, but it all gets very quiet at night.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover (credit cards only, no debit cards, sorry), as well as checks (drawn on a USA bank), money orders (in US dollars only), American Express Money Orders (in US dollars only), and cash (US dollars only). Please note that credit card payments require an additional surcharge $10.00/per night.

Q: What are the check-in and check-out times?

A: Please see our policies page for the answers to this and other related questions.

Q: What time is the breakfast served?

A: We serve breakfast between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m..

Q: What if I want to have breakfast earlier?

A: If you can’t wait to see the red rocks and don’t want to wait for the full-course breakfast, we can leave you some snacks and fruits to take with you.

Q: What if I have special dietary needs?

A: Please let us know at the time of the reservation about any dietary needs or restrictions that you have and we will try to accommodate. If you require special dietary items not sold at the regular food stores, it’s better to bring them with you to be sure to have them available.

Q: Is your place wheel-chair accessible?

A: Sorry, no, it is not. However, there are other places to stay in our area, please feel free to call us and we may help you find a room for you.

Q: What kind of air conditioning is in your house?

A: We have central air conditioning system, that is all guest rooms get cold air from the same source. We turn it on during the hot weather periods. If you don’t like to have cold air in your room, you can close the air windows in your room to limit the amount of air coming from the air conditioner.

Q: May I smoke in the room?

A: Sorry, no, we do not allow smoking in the room or anywhere in the house. You may smoke on the porch, though. Please note that smoking inside non-smoking facilities are illegal in Utah, and are subject to $200 cleaning fee.

Q: Do you have small children in the house?

A: No, there are no small children living in the house, and we don’t accept guests with children younger than 8, so your stay will not be disturbed by the noises small children often make.

Q: Do you have pets in the house?

A: We have two in-door cats, living with us downstairs, we don’t let them to the guestrooms. We’ve had quite a few guests with allergies to cats, and they had no problem staying at our place. However, if you have an extremely strong case of allergy to cats, you may want to stay at some other place.

Q: Can I bring a pet with me?

A: No, we don’t accept guests with pets, sorry. If you do want to bring a pet with you, we can help you find a place for it in our small town where you can leave your pet (for an additional fee) while you are staying with us or visiting the park (pets are not allowed on the park trails either!)

Q: Who are the hosts?

A: My name is Nida (pronounced ‘nee-dah’), nice to meet you! You can find more information about me here. During the busy season my husband Andrei (pronounced ‘andre’) helps me, too.

Q: Why is the name Amber Inn?

A: Amber is the national stone of Lithuania, the home country of your hostess, Nida. There is a beautiful Lithuanian legend about amber, and if you ask nicely, Nida will be happy to tell it when you come!
